Please read the story below carefully:
The recent Covid lockdown period has been difficult
for all SMEs, particularly those in the music and events industry. However,
many in this industry are still committed to the progress of their businesses.
Therefore, they need appropriate ideas and specific information regarding the
potential of technology to support, develop, and future-proof their livelihoods.
Tanja and Andreas are both classical
musicians and music teachers who play at local events and
parties. They want to get more personal work both as teachers and
musicians. They would like to publicise their talents via a website
and deal with booking arrangements via the internet for both teaching and
playing. At the moment arrangements are made by telephone. Their present
clients pay by cash on the day of the lesson or event. They want to appear
as professional as possible by providing information, bookings,
and payment options online.
They need a business strategy where
they take responsibility for their own; social media marketing, online business
accounts, an up-to-date calendar of events, and keeping track of the
communications between themselves and the clients.
They realise that technology will play an essential
part in future business. They have read about Customer Relationship
Management software and Enterprise Resource Management
software but don’t know what information technology
support they need as a small business partnership. They require professional
digital business advice before making any final decisions about investing funds
in business software. Also, they have heard that they may be able to save
money by using Open-Source Software but don’t understand if there are
any implications, so they need advice about this too.
Tanja and Andreas have no technical experience and
therefore require information that can be easily understood. You are
the IM consultant responsible for researching this business and
providing relevant information. You, as a consultant, need to advise on the
effective implementation of strategic changes. You are required to produce the
following for the case study.
Software Comparison and Recommendation
In this section, you should conduct research into a
suitable software solution. You should develop:
An evaluation table: you should decide on the set of
characteristics that you will use to evaluate the software, and your
research should consider two commercial/off the shelf software and 2 Open
Source Software alternatives. Please mention the names of the software being used as a comparasion.
Recommendation of software based on the table above, suggestions,
and a roadmap outlining how the proposed software can be deployed in the
business. Please use a tool similar to MS Project or others to clearly show the road map with milestones.
Instructions:
Each section should be covered separately and be clearly
identifiable as a section.
Please use clearly understandable flow charts and not a copy from
some website.
The diagram and flowchart should be of high resolution and easy to
understand.
Word Count: 2500 Words and the word count is from the introduction to conclusion sections. The word count does not include the title page, contents page, reference section, appendices etc.

Key measurement criteria
Clarity of Theory and Grammar: The assignment should be written in clear and grammatically correct English with a clear explanation of the theory and defined task. Please do repeat sentences. Please use simple English to explain the concept and avoid using jargon. If jargon is required, please describe them first.
Executive Summary: The executive summary should be engaging and clearly summarise the topics in the assignment.
Assignment Format: Please follow a report format. Therefore, you should have a title page, contents page, sections and subsections, page numbers, appendix section etc. Please use diagrams, illustrations, tables, graphics, etc. These do not count towards word limit wherever these are helpful. If you do use these, please do not put them in the appendices if they are part of your discussion.
Theory Explanation: Please try to use theory explicitly at all stages, but do not spend too much time describing this theory. While you must be explicit about the theories, models, techniques etc., the assumption is that the reader is familiar with these theories. The objective is to show clear evidence that the student can understand and apply the theory and learn from it to support the development of the findings and/or ideas.
References and Citations: All sources that have to be cited. Please use Google Scholar or other sites where you can find peer reviews. I will be checking all citations to confirm if the text for which this citation is used is actually present in the source.
