Assignment Overview
In this unit you explored the world of digital merchandising and the various roles and responsibilities within this field. Analysis will be created and submitted as a presentation in PowerPoint file format. You will conduct a website review as if they are a Digital Merchandising Consultant. The end goal is to make an initial evaluation of e-commerce sites and provide recommendations on how to make it better based on their competitive research.
Review at least 2 different online shopping websites.
Pick 2 retailers within the same field. For example, a high fashion luxury brand’s website and compare it to a mass market fashion retailer.
Show a side by-side comparison to showcase the differences and similarities. Ask yourself the following questions, as you are conducting the research:
What works and what does not work?
What are the main similarities? What are the main differences?
How do these websites attract customers or showcase their story and collection to the customer?
How does the layout of these websites affect a consumer’s shopping behavior and overall engagement ?
What are some suggestions of how to make this website better?
What are some improvements that can be made to make the website more efficient?
Be sure to describe if you were able to easily see the mood of the brand, the story behind the collection, find the content and/or any additional sales help and resources. For instance, is there a “Chat with an Associate” function, suggestions, recommendations, add-ons to your cart or an “About Us” section that further tells the story.
Create a slide presentation with your findings on 5-8 slides. The title page and reference do not count towards the 5-8 slides with information, visuals and other information from your research and analysis .
Include a title page and reference page in APA format.
Be sure to use references from this week’s lesson, presentations in addition to credible outside resources.
