Instruction by the instructor:
Teams will plan the sequence of deputations so that the complete set addresses all of the points below. This means that each team member will be responsible for a distinct piece of the story. Each complete set of deputations should:
Explain the overall challenge the proposed policy, program, or action is addressing.
Drawing upon current or past City policy documents (such as staff reports, Committee and Council meeting minutes), media coverage, community reports, course readings, and other research, review what is happening in Toronto with regards to this issue.
Why should the City take action?
Explain the specific policy, program, or action the team is proposing. What does the literature say about this type of policy/program/action? What do various stakeholders say the City should do? What does the evidence show? If the City is already implementing a program or policy, how is it working and what needs to change?
Describe one or two examples of how similar policies, programs, or actions are being implemented in other jurisdictions. How is it working out there?
Make recommendations. What should Toronto do? How could we improve upon what is already being done? What lessons could Toronto learn from other jurisdictions, from community stakeholders, and/or from research?
Instruction by Myself:
I have attached a draft for the overall deputation on Inclusionary zoning.
As my section is to “Describe one or two examples of how similar policy (Inclusionary Zoning) is implemented in other jurisdictions (Montreal) and how it is working there,” please rewrite/ write a script off of the “My Section” part of the paper on the third page of “Deputation script draft” for the deputation and make sure that the flow of the script aligns with the “part 1” of the drafts.
Please feel free to edit certain numbers/ data sets that is out of date, such as if the costs of the housing prices are out of date/ have certain errors. Also please utilize other examples of the deputations to make the script sound like a deputation.
