Following analysis of the problem, review of existing literature, and examination of theoretical foundations on their social problem, students are expected to develop one of the following final project deliverables:
-A screening tool
-An intervention (manual)
-A policy
-An adaptation of a practice modality
-A theoretical framework
-Grant application
In the methodology section of their project, students will be expected to:
-Provide a description of deliverable
-Provide rationale for choosing the selected deliverable (e.g., how will the development of a screening tool answer your research question?)
-Explain why other deliverables were not selected (should relate to research question)
-Identify key stakeholders (names, roles, agencies) who will inform the development of their final project deliverable. Along with identifying the individuals or groups will serve as key stakeholders for the final project, students will need to provide rationale for key stakeholder selection (i.e., how does this person’s education, professional role, or personal experience relate to your research project?). The following stakeholders have been identified for each deliverable:
o Screening tool—identify and seek input and feedback on questionnaire from individuals who may take the survey [e.g., clients] and individual who may administer the questionnaire [e.g., mental health providers, agency workers]
o Intervention—identify and seek input and feedback on manual from individuals who may participate in the intervention [e.g., clients] and individuals who may deliver the intervention [e.g., mental health providers, agency workers]
o Policy—identify and seek input and feedback on policy brief from individuals who be impacted by the policy [e.g., community members] and individuals who may be in the position to enact the policy [e.g., state or federal legislators]
o Adaptation to Practice Modality—identify and seek input and feedback on treatment plan from individuals who may receive the adapted modality treatment [e.g., clients] and individuals who may practice the adapted modality treatment [e.g., social work practitioners]
o Theoretical Framework—identify and seek input and feedback on theoretical model from individuals who can confirm the validity of the framework [e.g., client or community member], individuals who may be able to test the theoretical framework [e.g., social work practitioners], and individuals who develop theory [e.g., social work researchers].
-Methods to obtain information from key stakeholders that will be used to develop the final project deliverable
o Strategy for recruiting and contacting key stakeholders
o Method of collecting information from key stakeholders (e.g., in-person interviews, phone interviews, questionnaire/survey, etc.)
o Questions that will be asked of key stakeholders to obtain information to inform final project
-Additional sources that will be accessed to inform the development of the final project deliverable (e.g., screening tool development resources, intervention manual templates, existing policy briefs, existing theories, etc.).
Chapter 5: Conclusion
This last chapter should include:
A discussion on how the final deliverable addresses the research gap and addresses problem face by population.
A discussion on how the deliverable should be used to address the problem faced by population.
Strengths and limitations of the final project
Implications of study on social work practice, policy, research, and/or education
References: Check the references carefully to ensure that they comply with APA (7th Ed) guidelines and ensure that references that appear in the text are in the Reference section and vice versa.
Appendices: The appendix should include one of the following project deliverable:
A screening tool
An intervention (manual)
A policy
An adaptation of a practice modality
A theoretical framework
