Review your film notes (including the self-assessment questions and rationales), paying close attention to the director’s use of cinematic techniques and how the director used them to illuminate the transformation of characters in the film.
In your planning and writing, consider the following instructions.
For this assignment, you must refer to the film you chose for your Independent Film Study in this unit. When considering the characters in the film that you studied, choose the character whose experiences are most relevant to the topic.
Carefully consider your controlling idea (thesis) and how you will create a strong unifying effect in your response.
As you develop your ideas, support them with appropriate, relevant, and meaningful examples from your choice of film.
Discuss the effect of cinematic techniques as factors that best illuminate the characters’ transformation, relative to the topic.
You may structure your body paragraphs following the format of the character before transformation, cause of transformation, and effect of transformation on the character and others, or devise another method of showcasing the transformation in relation to cinematic techniques.
