This is a one-page assignment about the current event on copyright issues. I have already picked the article for you and will attach the link. If it isn’t free on the site, I will post pictures of the article OR you can change your browser settings(see the picture in files for how to do it), and then the article will be free for you to read.
Here are the class instructions for the assignment– Current Event You will be doing a Current Event assignment with every chapter.
ALL current event assignments must be done in the following way:
1. INCLUDE A LINK TO YOUR NEWS STORY AT THE TOP OF YOUR CURRENT EVENT SUBMISSION.
Do not put the link to your current event article in a separate document or at the bottom of your discussion. Your link should be the complete URL from the published story. If this link requires a subscription to the publication in order to open it, then you must cut and past the story along with your discussion.
2. THE ASSIGNMENT IS TO DISCUSS THE NEWS STORY YOU CHOSE
You must name the people and entities that are involved and be clear as to who or what you are referring to throughout your discussion.
Your discussion should make clear in the first paragraph what the story is about. However, you must focus on the LEGAL ISSUES, not the details of what happened that gave rise to the case.
This assignment should be at least one page in length. And be sure to use appropriate attribution—Do Not Plagiarize!
3. CURRENT EVENTS MUST BE U.S. STORIES ABOUT U.S. LAWS
4. CURRENT EVENT ITEMS MUST BE RECENT EVENTS
Preferably within the last week or month, 3 months max–unless there have been new developments in an older, ongoing story. If your article is not the latest news, you MUST find out if there have been any more recent developments and update the story.
5. DO NOT USE OPINION PIECES
6. DO NOT INCLUDE YOUR PERSONAL OPINION IN YOUR CURRENT EVENT DISCUSSIONS
7. Be Aware that if you choose a high profile story for current event—i.e., a story that has recently gotten a lot of coverage—many other students will probably use that story, too, and you will be competing against them in terms of the quality of your discussion, which will affect your grade on the assignment. My advice is don’t choose high-profile stories unless you are going to do a very thorough discussion and legal analysis of the story.
