This article addresses the fact that throughout the span of a person’s life their body is affected by many different physical illnesses as well as it continues to develop in different ways through each phase of life. This particular article however focuses a lot on children and adolescent health and names the top health issues back in 2010 for people with the top two being: Childhood obesity (38%) and Drug Abuse (30%). It also points out that in decades not that long ago that people did not live as long due to genetic birth defects, overall poor health, and lack of information; however, now as science evolves people are living longer and it drives the need for research in the later parts of Lifespan Development.
A Life-Span Developmental Perspective on Social Status and Health

This article focused on creating the link between social status and health and the idea why people are exposed to different diseases and illnesses and the extent that they are protected by their social statuses (higher class citizens have better living situations than lower class citizens) . It goes deeply into the details of explaining what social statuses are, what social inequalities there are in the U.S. as well as breaking it down between factors such as gender, race, education levels, family background, and socio-economic differences. Overall it shows that all the classifications that fall into the minority have worse or faster declining health issues rooting back to the inability to receive help, inability to pay for help, or inability to understand the conditions and how to treat themselves.
