For this proposal, write one paragraph (minimum of 200 words) addressing the following:
Name of writer you are studying
At least three sources known so far of what you will be exploring (names of poems, stories, books)
Why you are choosing to research and write about these sources
At least three research questions that you want to focus on
The proposal is worth 5 points. You must turn your work in on time and include all necessary parts (addressing who you are studying, why you are choosing to research them, minimum of 3 research questions and a link including a minimum of 3 sources you will be studying by the writer).
Below is an example to help you as you write yours:
I am going to be researching Eileen Myles. Myles is a queer poet, novelist and essayist. I even learned from searching them that they ran for president in 1992! I will be exploring several of her works including her mock acceptance speech for when she ran for president, an article about Eileen Myles’s run called, “Shining a Light on Eileen Myles” and several of her poems, “An American Poem,” “Rotting Symbols”, and “Choke”. Some questions I want to explore in my research paper include: How does Myles queer the election by running in 1992? What was their aim? In what ways in Myles’s poetry political? In what ways is Myles’s poetry queer/ queering the traditional form? I will be focusing on Myles’s language and how they confront the reader and confront themselves as well. I want to research Myles because I like how they write, how they speak about their own gender (which is similar to mine) and how versatile their writing is. It inspires me.
