Choose either the Boxer or the Schons reading and synthesize the author’s perspective on major historical developments shaping women’s identities in colonial Latin America. In an original analysis, discuss how customs, institutions, and practices restricted their opportunities for advancement, mobility, and social equality, as well as how women attempted to resist, challenge, and transcend existing societal gender norms.
