Directions: Answer all of the following questions. Please number your answers and use complete sentences. See grading rubric for details.
Why are you taking college classes?
In other words, what are your goals for taking classes and being in college?
What do you hope to achieve?
What are your top 10 goals that you are trying to accomplish in your everyday behavior?
Which of these goals are short term and which are long term?
Arrange your goals (your goals for college and your everyday behavior goals) in some sort of model. Be creative! Consider what is most important, what is absolutely necessary. Your diagram does not have to be linear (in a line). For example, you can think circular or use something in nature. Create something that fits for you.
How does your model compare to Maslow’s hierarchy?
Make a list of things that motivate you and/or reinforce you to strive toward your goals. Put an I (for intrinsic) or an E (for extrinsic) next to each item on your list. Which motivates you more intrinsic or extrinsic? As discussed in the text extrinsic rewards can sometimes decrease achievement motivation, does that fit for you? Why or why not?
Consider Carol Dweck’s concept of Growth Mindset (the TED talk in the video) and also the attributions you make regarding your progress in meeting your goals (remember attribution theory that we discussed on chapter 2). Write at least two paragraphs using information from the text, power point, and video describing how you can use your attributions to insure that you have a growth mindset to achieve your college goals.
Based on the information and theories in chapter 12 on emotions, how do you feel, or how do you think you will feel when you reach your goals. Explain using text info.
IMPORTANT! Remember if you use direct quotes (the authors’ words) you should reference correctly, by using quotation marks, and APA in-text citations. You also need to use in-text citations when using the authors’ ideas or paraphrasing. See below for examples. Not citing is a form of plagiarism and will result in an F on the assignment. Your answers should also include your own words.

After you have quoted or paraphrased another person’s work you need to correctly attribute credit to their ideas. This is done by citing. Some examples of citing in APA format include:
