For this paper, you will research Indicators for the Achievement of the NASW Standards
for Cultural Competence in Social Work Practice and then select 4 of the 10 standards
(e.g. Standard 5: Service Delivery) that you will that you hope to grow and learn more
about during this course and your work in human services.
Instructions:
In your paper you will:
1. Identify and explain each of the 4 standards you selected in your own words
while also giving credit to the authors in which you took the concepts you are
writing about (e.g. NASW).
2. For each standard you selected give one specific example of how you will apply
the standards of practice to the people/clients you plan to serve in human
services.
3. For each of the 4 standards, explain why you need to grow personally and
professionally in regard to the standards you selected and how you plan to go
about making those improvements.
4. In your work with clients, what are some potential cultural considerations which
might become a factor that would impact your ability to work with clients
effectively? Please identify and explain at least one per standard.
5. Identify an ethical dilemma for ONE of the standards you selected. Identify the
values that are in conflict, analyze the conflicts, identify the resolution for the
conflict and lastly provide the reasoning behind your decision.
6. To answer answer question #5, please apply each stage of Reamer’s (2005)
ethical decision model.
Requirements:
• This paper will be at least 5-7 full pages (one full page to answer the questions
for each of the standards you selected and one full page to answer part 5, the
ethical dilemma), double spaced with size 12 Times New Roman font and 1 inch
margins on all sides. You must use the resources Indicators for the
Achievement of the NASW Standards for Cultural Competence in Social
Work Practice and Counseling Ethics: Philosophical and Professional
Foundations, and at least 1 additional scholarly source. The paper requires a
