Include 5-6 sources that persuade your reader that you are knowledgeable about writing instructions. Use the research guidelines from the RFP and your audience analysis to help you perform appropriate research.
Once you’ve compiled your research, organize your research by topic. This section should not include one paragraph of summary on each source; instead, it should put your sources into conversation by presenting themes, or synthesizing. Review the “Proposal Research Lesson” for more information on synthesizing sources.
Carefully review the notes on “Tips for Avoiding Plagiarism” on your assignment sheet. Don’t forget to quote when using direct language from your sources and use in-text, parenthetical citations for all source information, whether it is quoted or paraphrased. Remember: putting another person’s ideas into your own language does not make that idea your own!
