The journal is a communication tool used to reflect on and document the clinical experience. Your journaling provides you with the opportunity to share with faculty your integration of theory evidenced based research and practice in the clinical setting as well as your thoughts and feelings regarding your experience. The Art of Journaling assists in connecting the student with self, faculty, preceptor and the lived clinical experience. The process of Journaling empowers the learner in relation to self-actualization, self-direction, motivation, accountability, and outcome measurement. You are asked to identify a specific goal, objective and experience for each clinical time period and address how your clinical decisions and activities related to your chosen focus for the day.
DIRECTIONS:
There are 6 course objectives for this.
Each journal must address 2-3 objectives, but by the end of the 120 hours, all course objectives must be covered.
Two clinical journals are to be submitted, midsemester and final.

COURSE OBJECTIVES:
Fulfills their professional, ethical, and legal responsibilities as a member of the health team.
Utilize the principles of adult nursing knowledge and skills that correlate theory with clinical practice integrating evidenced based practice to plan, implement, and to evaluate safe nursing care to promote the health of individuals and families.
Demonstrates effective and culturally competent interpersonal communication and technological communication skills in the care of clinically complex or critically ill clients.
Understands the role of teaching in the care of a hospitalized client.
Collaborates with other members of the health care team in providing care to clients, families, groups and communities.
Applies leadership and management principles to act as a change agent in health care practice.
Each Journal will focus on a clinical objective as outlined in the Clinical Evaluation Tool. Submit one Journal Article with each set of objectives that relates to your clinical experience and /or objective focus.
