This study aims to look into if behavioral therapy is an effective treatment for people with Body Dysmphoria and is there a better way to treat someone who is struggling with this disorder. The grouping of people that will be reviewed will be women and men aged teens to young adults. The tool that will be used is the Yale-Brown obsessive-compulsive scale. In the article ″The body dysmorphic disorder symptom scale: Development and preliminary validation of a self-report scale of symptom-specific dysfunction,″ quotes that The current standard for assessing body dysmorphic disorder, the Yale-Brown Obsessive Compulsive Scale, Modified for BDD (BDD-YBOCS; Phillips et al., 1997). The DSM-5 will also be used during this study. The point of using behavioral therapy is to aim at the goal that, over time, they will address the critical matter of Body Dysmphoria. It will then decrease the anxiety over ones body. There will be key points of Cognitive restructuring or reframing and exposure and response therapy. The idea is that over the duration of time, using exposure and response, they will improve on their Body Dysmphoria.
