Be collegial, supportive, and helpful! When pointing out flaws, focus on action steps
rather than deficits (instead of “There are a lot of grammar
mistakes,” try, “Read the second paragraph out loud slowly to correct
the grammar” or, “How can you improve the grammar and mechanics in
the middle of the paper? I notice issues with subject-verb agreement and
spelling.”)

analyze the article’s argument.

need is feedback on your essay draft writing itself.

Make sure to write directly to the writer
as “you/ your” rather than third person.
