You work for a police department and your supervisor has asked you to research unique approaches to crime prevention and report back. Include in your report (numbers 1, 2, 3, and 4, then extend 4 into making a recommendation for your particular department). The Kansas City Preventive Patrol Experiment and Newark Foot Patrol Experiment represented a unique approach to crime prevention through patrol.
Summarize each study by describing the findings and key elements of the experiment.
Explain how these approaches help shape and change traditional patrol.
Describe how one approach could be integrated into a police department on a permanent basis.
Consider the types of communities that the approaches would work best in? Why? What communities might they not work in? Why

Introduction
As the textbook states, the American police face many challenges in the immediate future. Technology, crime analysis, the state of the economy, and the war on terrorism will force many changes on the police. How the police will respond to these challenges and external changes is not clear. The only thing that is certain is policing will keep changing and evolving to meet the challenges of the future.
Activity You have been introduced to the law enforcement profession and examined its strengths and weaknesses as well as its development over time. Now it is time to put it all together and provide your analysis of law enforcement as it relates to society.
For this paper, you will provide a detailed analysis of police and society. For your example, use a combination of a local police policy and procedures manual, a current incident, the course textbook, and/or another outside resource.
In your example how do the two entities (police and society) interact?
Questions you might address include but are not limited to:
Were the best strategies being provided to deliver police services? If so what were they?
Evaluate the focus of the delivery of police services and address the roles that define an officer’s duties.
Propose ideas for the future of the law enforcement profession.
Recommend changes that would improve the interaction.
