Aging in the Movies Paper

Words: 496
Pages: 2
Subject: Uncategorized

You will select two movies that have an older adult as a main character and/or deal with issues of older adults. As you watch these movies, you should make note of the physical, social, financial, mental, and spiritual well-being of the older adult characters. The following sections should be addressed in your comparison paper:
Brief Overview. Provide a brief overview of the movies and the plots of each. You do not have to draw comparisons between the plots, but there should be a plot synopsis consistent with having watched the movies.
Roles of the Older Adults. Some questions to consider are: What roles do the older adults play in these movies? How do these roles compare to each other, and how do these roles compare to the roles of older adults we’ve discussed in the textbook? Do not limit your analysis to only these questions.
Stereotypes (Ageism). Some questions to consider are: How are stereotypes perpetuated in these movies? How do these stereotypes compare to each other, and how do these stereotypes compare to those we’ve discussed in the textbook? How might these stereotypes be harmful in relation to our expectations of older adults? What examples of ageism are present in the films? Are examples of ageism latent of manifest? Do not limit your analysis to only these questions.
Aging Norms. Some questions to consider are: What characteristics of the older adults from the films are consistent with normal changes that occur with aging? How do these aging norms compare to each other, and how do these aging norms compare to those we’ve discussed in the textbook? Do not limit your analysis to only these questions.
Bio-Psycho-Social Assessment: In this course we discuss the purpose and use of the bio-psycho-social assessment. With that in mind focus on the character you highlighted from each movie and imagine they were your client. Provide at least two questions from each category (bio-psycho-social) that you would ask the client in order to provide assistance and services. In addition, provide supporting sentences regarding why you chose the question. There can be no duplication of questions, simply stated, you cannot ask both “clients” the same question.
Part D.
Format: This paper should be 6-8 pages, not including the cover page nor the reference page(s). No abstract is needed. It should be well written with no errors in grammar, mechanics, or spelling. The paper should be written in APA format and have a minimum of four (4) citations within the paper and on the reference page.
