According to UNHCR (The UN Refugee Agency), 70.8 million people have been forcibly displaced in the world with a majority of them coming from Syria, Afghanistan, and South Sudan. There are many factors that have caused displacement in the various countries as well as numerous parties who are responsible for the ongoing crisis. The solution to the current worldwide refugee crisis is an ongoing challenge facing government leaders, NGOs (Non-governmental organizations), and others.
In preparation for this essay, please go to https://www.unhcr.org/en-us/ (Links to an external site.) and view “Emergencies” (located in the top navigation bar) and choose one of the topics/links to read. Then, locate 2 stories and 1-2 videos on the “News and Stories” tab that relate to the topic you chose. You are also encouraged to research the country where the issue/emergency is and its history to better understand what has brought about the emergency.
