Objectives
This assignment is essential for starting the introduction of your Final APA Paper! Here you will identify three articles you think are a good fit for your research area and introduction for your final APA paper.
This assignment aligns with the following course objective:
Critically evaluate research articles as well as information presented in the popular media.
Compose written reports of research in appropriate APA style.
This assignment has more focused course and skill-based learning objectives:
Search and select appropriate empirical research article to include in the introduction of your final APA paper.
Evaluate research to help you formulate hypotheses.
In this annotated bibliography, you will:
Include three APA references of the three articles you selected to discuss in your final APA paper.
The articles you reference in your introduction must be empirical research articles, meaning that they must include a scientific study.
To find these articles, use the library – check out the step-by-step instruction video for how to access the MVC library and how to use various functions to access relevant papers (also located in the Final APA Paper page):
After each reference, you will write a 100-150 word annotation. This annotation will include a:
Brief summary of the article.
Rationale for why you selected it and it’s relevance to your research area.
Formatting
This should be completed in APA format. This mean the full document should be double-spaced, Times New Roman, font size 12, and have one-inch margins.
Here are some screenshots of how you should set up your document:
Here you can see the words Annotated Bibliography are at the top of the document. Below the title is the first reference. Under that is a summary of the article that was selected. Don’t forget to discuss how the research in the article is connected to your topic of interest and research questions.
Make sure to list your reference in APA format. You can ensuring the hanging indent is correct by highlighting the full reference, then selecting Paragraph in the Home navigation. In the Indentation section, select Hanging in the “Special:” drop-down menu. In the Spacing section, make sure 0pt is selected for “Before:” and “After:”. Finally, where it says “Line Spacing:” select Double. From what I have read, this is similar for Macs – you can see the instructions here: https://softwarekeep.com/help-center/create-a-hanging-indent-in-microsoft-word (Links to an external site.).
On the next double-spaced line, be sure to include a 100-150 word summary and provide your rationale for selecting the referenced article.
Once you are done, move to the next line to begin referencing and annotating your second article.
NOTE: This assignment is submitted through Turnitin, which means it will be checked for plagiarism. Make sure everything you include has been paraphrased in your own words!
