Directions: Choose a social topic on which you hold a strong opinion (this may be a well known issue or a more obscure one—it may be a serious moral or political argument or it may simply be your argument for a particular genre of literature). Your goal is to take a stand on this issue and argue your position. Use whatever techniques you feel will be most effective in convincing the reader that you are correct (this does not include bribing the reader ☺). Research of some kind will be necessary to make a strong argument (be sure to give credit to your sources), but ultimately this paper needs to reflect your opinions and experience. I want to see your analysis and thoughts on the research you’ve done, not merely a collection of other people’s thoughts. DO NOT use sites like Pro/Con in your essay.
