MLA Documented Academic Essay
Your assignment is to write an analytical academic essay. You must use the writing process to create your essay. This essay should be 3-5 pages in length. The assignment is to analyze the text in Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein, and create an argument that supports one or the other: 1) The creature is the real monster in the novel, or Victor Frankenstein is the real monster in the novel. You must use specific textual evidence and outside research to support the claim. To be successful, the essay must include:
An effective audience analysis.
An effective thesis statement.
Effective transitions.
Appropriate academic language and voice
An introduction paragraph, body paragraphs that support the points in the thesis, and an effective conclusion.
A diversity of sources with a balance of academic and popular publications may be used. All sources must be properly cited (MLA 8 style only) within the text as well as properly cited on a Works Cited page.
Sources should not be wikis, study guides, essay writing services, Shmoop, Good Reads, e-notes or blogs or the like.
Deliverables
Analytical essay 3-5 pages using MLA 8 style.
Works Cited page (at least 4 sources) used both on the Works Cited page and included within the essay to support your claim.
