Attached you’ll find Assignment 2 Part I and Part II. Essentially, you’ll be conducting a “mock” survey, since you won’t actually carry this survey out and will report fake results in Part II. Part I is already completed. you will continue designing a
Mock Survey, in this part you’ll need to add the following to your initial
project:
Mode
What mode of data collection
will you use—in-person, telephone, self-administered questionnaire, email with
link to web-based survey, open internet survey or some other approach? Briefly
justify your choice, stating its pros and cons relative to alternative choices.
Questionnaire
Design and provide a
questionnaire to measure your substantive variables and the needed demographic
variables.
You may use a few standard questions from existing
questionnaires, but you must credit them. You must state specifically which
questions, or which parts of particular questions come from particular sources.
The wording of most of your questions must be your own.
You may choose to create your
survey in Qualtrics, which is available to all students and faculty.
Identify which questionnaire
item corresponds to each variable you are trying to measure. Discuss how well
the measures from your questionnaire do at capturing the construct that you
wish to measure. Describe any problems of answer bias that you anticipate and
why.
You should have between 20 to 30 questions total (including demographic
questions).
STATA and Making up results
You
will input fake results into STATA and pretend those are the actual results
from your survey. You can do this by inputting the results yourself, or you can
copy some data from an existing dataset (GSS, Latinobarometer, Eurobarometer,
etc.)
Then, pretending that those are the actual results from your survey, you will
illustrate the results by creating descriptive statistics tables (and or cross
tabs), and graphing the data (using a scatterplot, or a histogram) of the results for your two to three most important
variables (think about what your main independent variable(s) are and focus on
them).
So
essentially, make up examples of numerical results that you might conceivably
find if you had actually conducted this study/survey.
