You will need to refer to the handout on “Family Terms” under the “Handouts” tab.
In the first paragraph, write a brief summary of the film focusing on the question “How has dating evolved over time?” (Please do not use judgmental types of statements like “I am glad I wasn’t born back then”).
Think about your current romantic relationship (if not in one, you can use a past romantic relationship or friend/family members’ romantic relationship-like your parents, for example. You even use a fictitious relationship, like a couple on your favorite television show–given that the plot of how they met and dated is obvious).
How long have you dated this person? What was the end result of this relationship (still going out, broke up, got married, cohabit…)?
How did you meet this person? What role did propinquity and homogamy play ? Explain.
Describe your dating patterns. How often did you go out? What was/is a typical date?
Did you engage in hypergamy or hypogamy? Explain.
USE THE SOCIOLOGICAL TERMINOLOGY. Underline the terms that you use.
