TOPIC: The Power of Money
REQUIRED SOURCES:
I HAVE to use the following sources:
Marx, The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844
https://www.marxists.org/archive/marx/works/download/pdf/Economic-Philosophic-Manuscripts-1844.pdf
and Simon, Against Trophy Hunting:A Marxian-Leopoldian Critque
Focus on:
Marx first manuscript: 4 types of alienation
The more you work the more estranged you are and the farther you become from the purpose of your life.
People rely on labor to live
Estranged labor portion of the first manuscript:
First is the estrangement of the worker from the product of his work.
You work so hard to create and produce and the harder you work, the more you produce but as the worker, you dont own any part of what you are producing.
Second is the estrangement of the worker from the activity of production.
Even if you think you are working to fulfill yourself, you are not. You are performing for someone else.
Third is the workers alienation from species-being,or human identity.
You can lose yourself in work, lacking identity and significance. You are trading time for money over and over again.
Fourth is the estrangement of man to man.
You will never be equal to the man you work for
“This paper will focus on a portion of Karl Marx work titled The Economic and Philosophic Manuscripts of 1844. In this work, Marx addresses a number of alienations between man and labor. This paper will dissect those alienations and relate them to modern day experiences regarding the workforce and its sustainability….”
