Midterm Ethics Leadership Skills Exam Project. Macro ethics leadership strategies. Select an
ethics leadership case that you know about or can learn about that we have not discussed in our
class and was not used in another class. Identify who you are recommending for in the case.
1. Inductive attention to positive and negative situational factors. Identify and describe the
key positive and negative individual, organizational, and environmental aids and
obstacles within the case situation.
2. Interpretation anpd reflection on the situation. Reflect upon and explain using inductive
analogical reasoning from other cases and deductive reasoning from the readings why the
key positive and negative individual, organizational and environmental aids and obstacles
are so important in the case situation.
3. Selection of action/praxis ethics leadership methods.
3.1 Objectives. From your situational analysis and reflection, select your ethics leadership
objective and explain why it is better than two alternative objectives.
3.2 Select and explain using inductive analogical reasoning from the cases and deductive
conceptual reasons from the readings why one of the macro ethics leadership
strategies (vision and values, incentives, top-down power, bottom-up
power/whistleblowing, participative, charismatic storytelling, critical intellectual,
alternative institution building, combination) is more or less appropriate for your case
and objective than two alternative strategies for your objective.
3.3 Scenarios and contingency plans. Explain what three different unexpected
scenarios/situations might be in which your first macro strategy might be blocked and not
work; and, why one of those three possible scenarios would be more likely than two
others to occur and block your first choice of a strategy. Based on the blocking scenario
that would most likely occur, explain why one contingency strategy would be better than
two others.
4. Reflection and Theory building. What have you learned from your case analysis that is new
for you; and, explain how your insights might add to or advance any of the theory/readings in
ethics leadership.
