Your reading this Module: Week covered each of what are sometimes referred to as the bases for enforcing contracts: consideration, reliance, and “moral obligation” theory. Central (and essential) to each of these three bases for enforcing contracts is the concept of “promise.” Pick at least 1 Bible verse that helps you better understand or describe why it is morally right to make and keep promises. Explain why it is morally right to keep promises or why you don’t find moral value in keeping promises. Next, evaluate why you believe the court in Mills v. Wyman refused to enforce a promise in that case, despite the court’s belief that it was immoral for Mr. Wyman to break his promise. Exercise your own judgment about the case: do you think it was justly decided or not? Justify your conclusion.
