Final Project Assignment:
The final project assignment is an independent research paper on any topic of sociological significance. You are welcome to consult with me and with the Graduate Assistants on all aspects of your independent study. You may decide to do qualitative, quantitative research or mixed method research paper. The research paper will involve the following:
A: Hypothesis/significance of study. Clearly state the research question and problem of inquiry Why is the study valuable to society, our region, country, internationally? How will your research contribute to the existing literature?
B.: Theory and Literature Review: Evaluate at least five sources, including at least three journal articles which are relevant to your topic. What are the strengths, weaknesses of the sources, how do they relate to your topic, what are the gaps and how do you propose to address them?
Note: the method from the article does not necessarily have to be similar to your own, you may build from it and find alternate ways of studying a similar phenomenon.
C: Methodology and Method, state why you choose a methodology and the strengths and weaknesses, what is your instrument of measurement? Provide an outline of the conceptual framework and operationalization of the research. A detailed description of the participants and Sample should be included. A Survey/ Interview questionnaire should be provided in the appendix if applicable. The ethical considerations should be discussed at each stage and a completed letter of information from University of Windsor REB website should be attached in the Appendix if applicable.
