Create a balanced schedule for an early learning program. Choose from the following:
A toddler room in a child care center that is open from 6 am until 6 pm
A preschool room in a child care center that is open from 6 am until 6 pm
A family child care that is open from 6 am until 6 pm
A 6 hour Head Start program that is open from 8 am until 2 pm (must serve breakfast and lunch)
A full-day kindergarten classroom that is open from 8 until 2:30
A before and after school program that is open from 5am until 8am and again from 2:30pm until 7pm
Other options may be approved individually by your professor.
Grading criteria
Schedule includes pictures, times, and words- You should have one picture for each part of your schedule. Pictures can be line drawings or photos from the internet. Do not use photos from your center unless you plan to use this for your current place of employment and have parent permission. This schedule is meant to be used with and for children. Keep it simple.
Schedule has at least one solid block of free play (1 pts)
Schedule is balanced between child directed and teacher directed times (10 pts)
Transitions are minimized (5 pts)
Times allotted are appropriate for the activities (5 pts)
Meals/Snacks are included (1pt)
Naptime or quiet time(s) are included (1pt)
Outdoor time(s) is included (1pt)
Group time(s) are included (1pt)
