(file 1: proposal); i submitted the proposal a long time ago, but i changed the topic. and here is the comment for the proposal:
Background of the Study:
Here you defined your topic and gave your reader a broad understanding of employee engagement but we need more here. What is the history of it and how is it used in hospitality?
Statement of the Problem:
This is not written correctly. This section should look at what aspect has not been done so far? What is unknown about this topic? Why is this location good?
Purpose and Significance of the Study/Rationale:
Here you should tell WHAT is the benefit or value of this study?
WHO will benefit from your study?
What will be YOUR CONTRIBUTION from this study? How will this study EXTEND KNOWLEDGE in this area? WHY is this study worth doing? Tell the reader why your research is worth the effort.
Theoretical Framework:
You did tell the theory you’ll use and explained it briefly. Next explain it in detail. Now tell WHY you want to use them. HOW will you use them? You should link to your methodology and tell how these theories will help you know what data you want to collect. You must justify your choices in this section much better.
Contextual Boundaries:
Why did you choose this hotel for your study? Why is it the best fit to achieve your aims and objectives?
Methodology
I really like your chart. It helps the reader a lot.
This is the chapter where you define, explain and justify your research methods and tell how you plan to apply them. You used some literature here, which is a good practice, but it should go deeper. You will need to reference 3-4 textbooks on research methodology for your final report.
You explain some of your choices but others you missed. What is your study Philosophy? You have made no justification about your choices. Be more clear about WHY you chose realism and how do you plan to apply realism in your own research.
How will you specifically use each approach? You should begin by defining “questionnaire”, “interview” etc.. Why are these choices the best approaches for your topic? You need to be much more specific, and justify much stronger.
Sample:
Describe the sample more thoroughly: How will you identify these individuals? How will you access them? How did you choose them? Why do they have the information you need?
Ethics
This is good. In your final dissertation this section will be written into a paragraph or two.
