Giving a perspective and ethical defense of a certain ethical issue. The student should cite at least three sources, with at least one being a position different than what they’re arguing for. The student will choose a different ethical issue for each of the three papers. In each paper the student should explain the ethical issue, give their position on the issue, and defend their position against possible counter-arguments. The goal is to show that the student not only understands the issue and has an informed position on it, but also that the student understands other perspectives on the issue, and has appropriate responses to these other perspectives. To do this, after the student presents and argues for their view, they should anticipate counter-arguments (which they can find by reading articles by people who disagree with them), and then critically respond to those counter-arguments.
