WEEK SIX DISCUSSION: CHAPTER 5- IMPORTANT: WRITE ALL RESPONSES TO DISCUSSIONS IN A “QUESTION AND ANSWER” FORMAT. THAT MEANS WRITE OUT THE QUESTION FIRST IN ITS ENTIRETY BEFORE YOU DRAFT YOUR RESPONSE BACK TO IT. INCLUDE THE NUMBER IN WHICH YOU ARE RESPONDING TO.
1.) If a powerful state (especially in the economic arena) is a vital part of French identity, can any government really “liberalize the economy?” Answer in at least 200 words.
2.) Even though Emmanuel Macron easily won the Presidency of France, what should we make of Marine Le Pen and the growing appeal of the National Front Political Party (for at least some) in France? What connections, if any, can we draw between the appeal of the National Front in France and the rise of “Trumpism” in America? Answer in at least 200 words.
