Paper #2 – The 2008 Financial Crisis (15% of course grade): You must watch the documentary Inside Job available through various online streaming services. Prepare a paper in which you identify, research, assess, and discuss the primary issues stemming from the actions and decisions that led to and perpetuated the financial crisis as those issues relate to business ethics and law. You do not need to discuss each person and issue – choose key issues and include specific examples. You must include the following at a minimum:
· Provide an effective overview of what the financial crisis entailed (i.e. what was it?).
· Identify and describe who the key stakeholders were. You do not need to name each specific
person, but rather think in terms of industries, positions, and roles, and provide a few specific examples. Remember, stakeholders also include those who were affected by the crisis, not just those who were making decisions or ‘doing something’.
· Assess the economic, social, and political impact of actions that were taken and decisions that were made by individuals, which led to and/or perpetuated the financial ‘meltdown’ of 2008. You do not need to address each and every action/decision – choose overall ‘themes’ to assess, and include some specific examples to illustrate your points.
· Evaluate the ethical and legal implications of those actions and decisions.
· Assess the crisis’ impact on key stakeholders, society at large, and the global environment.
· Demonstrate your ability to think and analyze critically, integrate course content, incorporate
research, and effectively synthesize various opinions and ideas.
