Leadership Policy Analysis Topic: “BYOD” aka bring your own device policy. This allows nurses, doctors, or any healthcare employee to communicate and exchange patient care information using their personal phones. This is something I have actually observed frequently during clinical. This is very convenient, but it can be problematic because there are no guaranteed or regulated security measures to protect the patient’s information that is being shared or discussed via employee’s personal cellphones. As technology and communication evolves over time, smartphones have become the most used source for majority of people. This includes healthcare workers. Because smartphones are always attached to our bodies it has become easier for healthcare workers to reach others to communicated about patient care and assign tasks at the tip of our fingers.
