The assigned company is Ecolab, Inc. Students will complete two case analyses during the course. The instructor will explain how to implement this method during the first week of classes. All students will write a term paper based on a case assigned to them as individuals as a first assignment. All analyses are required to include research documenting information not found in the organization’s own websites or publications. A written summary of what is in the firms says about itself will not receive a passing grade for this assignment. References must be listed and in the term paper cited in the proper locations. You can use APA Style (author name, publication year) or you can use footnotes. If you find analyses like a SWOT or Five Forces analysis on the internet you may use them but cite where it is from and back it up with your own analyses (i.e., don’t rely on someone else’s judgment exclusively). Include a reference page in your term paper and a reference slide in your group’s presentation slides. All students’ papers will be checked for originality by the TURNITIN system. This check will look for duplication of other students’ papers as well as duplication (or copying) from sources in the library and internet. A number of you are asking for more guidance on the term paper. Here is some information I put together that may be helpful. The IACBE information is what that organization wants you to be judged on when you graduate. We use your term paper, among other things like your senior seminar exams, to help us judge these criteria. That is the minimum length and it does not guarantee the maximum grade. You must list your sources with enough detail (either the DOI or the URL) so that I can find what you were researching.
