This week, you watched a short documentary made by students at the University of Washington about the effects of violent media on children. Gerald Jones, comic book author and expert on children’s media has responded to this video saying, “It’s normal for kids to be interested… the question we need to ask ourselves is what kind of violence might be disturbing for which ages?” He went on to say, “I don’t think you have to worry about shooter games turning children into shooters…” Respond to his comments. Do you agree? Disagree? In his comment about shooter games, he is implying that violent media does not make children violent. If so, then how does violent media impact children? You must base your agreement or disagreement in facts. This is an easy topic to have an opinion on. Do a little research and find an article, video, or other media to support your claims. Opinion is not enough.
