The main goal of Healthcare institutions is to provide quality services to their patients. They can achieve this goal by using correct information to guide them during their practices. Hence information is a valuable factor in decision-making when it comes to improving patients’ health. However, information at health care organizations is vulnerable to several threats, including cyber threats. Therefore, this paper will discuss two vulnerabilities of electronic records and specific resources that can be utilized to remain informed and current in pubic health practices and trends.
Vulnerability Assessment
Information is very key in health organizations, and it must be protected. The safety of information cannot be guaranteed with the rise of cybercrimes (Kruse et al., 2017). Fraudsters target health records for their own benefit. Therefore health information is vulnerable to fraudsters; they hack servers in healthcare centers and access electronic records. This distorts health information as hacking involves attacking computers using viruses. Besides, phishing attacks are another vulnerability in the protection of health information. Hence healthcare providers should be educated on how to keep the data safe by avoiding opening files that are not scanned.
What are the Resources that Healthcare Professionals Need to Remain Informed
Healthcare organizations should be fully trusted on matters concerning the health of patients. However, they must make sure that their health practitioners perform their responsibilities with the correct information for accuracy purposes (Langlois et al., 2019). Therefore, to remain informed, healthcare professionals can use the following resources:
Social media: many people are using social media to access valuable and relevant information. Health professionals can follow posts from organizations like the National Health Service (NHS) and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC). Hence, To obtain valuable health information.
Podcasts and videos are very reliable platforms for obtaining current health information (Ellen et al., 2018). Healthcare professionals can listen to podcasts such as Future of Healthcare and the #HCiz show to obtain relevant information (Langlois et al., 2019). Videos and podcasts cover any healthcare topics and issues arising in the healthcare industry.
