Here’s the essay prompt:
We have discussed three general schemes for understanding the intellectual history of disciplines. Briefly identify and explain those. Based on lectures and Trigger’s book, which of the schemes seem(s) most useful for understanding the history of anthropological archaeology in the USA from the nineteenth century through the 1970s? Justify your response with specific instances of archaeological interpretation. You can use developments in Europe as a point of comparison, but keep your focus on the American case.
