Using one of the movies from the following list, analyze the narrative structure, point of view used (such as first-person narrator, omniscient, restricted), and at least two characters from the film (pages 117 – 135 in Looking at Movies). This section of the textbook is short, but it provides information that will be valuable for the remainder of the semester. Please be sure to engage fully with the readings and to bring critical thinking to bear in your analysis of the film. Be sure your analysis is complete, giving clear evidence and analysis of that evidence to prove your assertions, and be sure to use the language of the chapter (round, flat, antagonist, goals, etc.). For narrative structure, make sure to address all elements (normal world, inciting incident, etc.). Be organized! Begin with an introductory paragraph, then write a series of short paragraphs with each one covering one element. End with a concluding paragraph. Write in academic 3rd person (no “I” or “you”). You should bring in quotes from the authors of our textbook. Introduce quotes by the authors and include a page number citation — Barsam and Monahan assert, “………….” (243). Use present-tense verbs—assert, contend, note, explain in your signal phrase. Length: 2-3 pages, typed, double-spaced, MLA format. Works Cited page.
