Prompt #1: Democratization in countries is highly complex process and it is still not well-understood what causes this process and how it happens. However, scholars identified several mechanisms that are worth of investigation and useful of understanding democratization. One of the causes of democratization might be a force coming from outside a country. In other words, democratization might be promoted by external or international factors: “an external promotion of democracy.” These factors could be a powerful state, an international organization, or group of actors. Please discuss if democratization in a country can be promoted or started from outside forces. In your discussion highlight the pros and cons of democracy promotion from outside. Give a country as an example to support your argument.
