The focus of this assignment is : teaching elementary maths. So focus on only 1 grade level ( for ex. Grade 3). This is a two part assignment. Part A & Part B. Please follow the rubric
Choose TWO rules (do NOT select rule #9 or #12) from the article and detail the following for each:
Part A
Explain what the [incorrect] rule is, and how/why it “expires” (is no longer applicable at a certain grade.)
Part B
Create a math word problem that, if you applied the “expired rule,” would lead you to an incorrect solution. Then, show how you could use your word problem to better teach the math concept behind that rule. Be specific! (Do not simply name a manipulative. Show HOW you could use a visual representation, manipulatives, etc. to teach the concept behind the rule, not just the procedure. Also, be sure to include your drawing with your assignment.)
