A) The story of the Aztecs (a.k.a., the Mexica) recounts the rise and fall of one of the great indigenous
civilizations. Among the last to arrive in the Valley of Mexico, the Aztecs would build an empire over the
course of three centuries that eventually dominated millions. Nevertheless, many accounts still recite how a
handful of Spaniards had little trouble in overthrowing this impressive culture (often relying on a number
of myths). How do we actually explain this event? For example, how did Spains medieval heritage and
worldview prepare the Spaniards for this conquest? Did the structure of the Aztec empire help or hinder this
process? Consider other features as well such as religion, the advantages (& limitations) of technology, the
impact of disease, internal dissension, cultural worldviews, among any others, in your argument.
