Purpose: to inform your audience.
You may explain something, how to do something, how something occurs, or show us how to do it. You goal is to do so accurately, clearly, and interestingly. As you can imagine, the list of topics is endless! This speech should be on any topic that you are comfortable with but should not tell us what we already know!
Time Limit: 4-6 minutes
General Requirements:
1. Sources: you MUST use at least 2 CREDIBLE sources, cite them orally in the speech and formally in your outline and in an ATTACHED BIBLIOGRAPHY using MLA or APA format remember 2 is the minimum
2. Thesis, Main Points, and Sources: You will need to submit a draft of your thesis, main points, and potential sources for approval. (25 Points)
3. Outline: A full sentence outline is required for this speech and must follow the template in the Informative Speech Information Folder. It is strongly encouraged that you email a copy of your outline for feedback BEFORE submitting your final outline. (50 points)
Thesis: There were many underlying causes of the persecution of people during the Salem witch trials including ergot poisoning, political and socioeconomic factors, and mass hysteria.
Main Points:
1. Ergot poisoning was one cause of the Salem witch trials.
2. Political and Socioeconomic factors were another cause of the Salem witch trials.
3. Mass Hysteria was also a cause of the Salem witch trials.
