1. Identify two cohesive chains in the 2 texts. Remember that a cohesive chain may include lexical as well as grammatical ties. Provide your answers by using the tables provided. In the ‘desсrіption’ column, write how the item is connected to the previous one(s), e.g. “anaphoric reference to…”, “repetition of…” and so on. Please note: the number or rows in the tables is arbitrary – your chains may be shorter or longer. 2. Identify the ‘given & new’ structure in the texts, by specifying the given information only in each sentence. Use the tables provided for your answers. 3. Write a commentary on how the two texts hang together, highlighting any significant differences between the two. Your commentary should include aspects of cohesion, information structure and coherence (schemata).
