The focus of the Research Paper will be a cohesive analysis of 3 texts–short stories, “Everyday Use – 1973” by Alice Walker, “Boys and Girls- 1964” by Alice Munro, “Maggie a girl of the Street” by Stephen Crane. The literary texts can be selected based on: topics that can be compared and contrasted relevance of a literary approach, for example, Feminism, macsulinism, gender studies, and critical race theory, Marxist theory, which you use to construct an argument about the texts. Support your thesis with 3-4 scholarly articles from the LAMC Library database such as Ebscohost (Links to an external site.) or AcademicFile One. (Links to an external site.) Please Note: Reference books, encyclopedias, and Shmoop are not (!) scholarly sources Important: Your thesis should go beyond merely identifying, for example, “the oppression of women.” Take critical thinking a step further. What unique insight does the primary text bring to our understanding of women’s oppression? Do women participate in their own oppression? Does the text show ways in which women can resist that oppression?
