Discuss the art style in which the artist worked. The style is Harlem Renaissance. You may use the resources noted in Assignment 3A as well as additional resources. Note any significant art exhibitions. Be sure to note all resources at the end of the essay. (10 points)
Paragraph C
Write a Formal Analysis of the work of art. See pages 170-172. Simply note how you see the elements of art (line, shape, contrast, form, volume, mass, texture, value, space, color, motion and time) are used in the work. If you need to refresh your memory on any of these elements, please review Sections 1.1 1.5 of your text book. Be sure to comment on each and every element of art. (20 points)
Paragraph D
Continue your Formal Analysis by noting any principles of art (unity, variety, balance, scale and proportion, focal point and emphasis, pattern and rhythm) you see are used in the work. If you need to refresh your memory on any of these principles, please review Sections 1.6 1.9 of your text book. Be sure to comment on each and every principle of art. (20 points)
Paragraph E
From the list of Types of Analysis and Critique on page 176 of the text, choose one other type of analysis to complete (not a formal analysis as you have already completed this for paragraph C and D). Be sure to note in this paragraph which type you have chosen. (20 points)
Paragraph F
Finish the essay by writing one paragraph of what you think of the work. Consider your response, what the work makes you feel or remember. With what life experiences might you associate the work of art? You are not obligated to like the work. You just have to justify your response in an educated way. Be thorough in your discussion! (20 points)
