Each learning module in this course include a Maple Assignment and Discussion. For these, you will create a Maple file on an assigned discrete mathematics topic which you will upload to the discussion board. The Maple file you create will include more than just mathematics. You will include verbal desсrіptions/explanations, proofs, relevant tables and graphs, and clear labeling (of sections of the document and plots) so that the Maple file you attach to the discussion board will be a complete report. The goal of this assignment/discussion is for you to become familiar with Maple and how it can assist you understanding discrete mathematics concepts and working proofs and other discrete mathematics problems. Complete the activities below in a single Maple file and then attach the file to your main discussion post. In the body of your main post, please include a paragraph about what new thing most impressed you and why, no matter if it is mathematical or Maple in origin. General Maple tip: When in Maple, navigating from the tool bar at the top, visit Help˃˃˃Maple Help and search for a key word relevant to what you are doing. The search results will return three types of information. The letter D in a box denotes a mathematical definition. A Question Mark in a box denotes the information there is a “how to” using Maple. The letters WS in a box denote a link to a Maple Math Apps. Make sure no one else has already chosen the problem. The initial solution attempt is due by Wednesday and must contain your initial attempt and Maple file. Use Maple to help you write out the solution to the problem. In later assignments, we will be using Maple to complete mathematical operations. In this module, Maple will be used primarily as a math type editor and to construct tables. Please clearly identify and describe the method and steps to set up the problem as if one were using pencil and paper and utilize Maple to write the solution and proofs using correct mathematical notation, symbols and tables. Treat this as a standalone report. Please include the problem statement, clearly labeled mathematical work, clearly labeled and relevant sources, and explanations for all (mathematical work, plots, and conclusions). For formatting within the Maple file, please include a desсrіptive title (including sections and problem numbers) and your name. Clearly label each problem in your file. At the end of your Maple file, please include a paragraph (a minimum of five sentences) summarizing what you have learned in this module and any difficulties you found (mathematically or with Maple). Attach this Maple file to your main discussion post. Getting Started Now it is your turn to work in Maple! As this may be your first time working in Maple, I have included some pointers on getting started. Open Maple From the top menu bar, click on File-˃New-˃ Document Mode. (Please note: We will not be using ″worksheet mode″ in this course.) Click on ′text′ mode at the top of the screen. This will ensure that you are in text mode (instead of math mode). If you enter a mathematical expression using the palette menus on the left-hand side of the screen in Maple, you will automatically be back into math mode. You will then need to toggle back to ′text′ mode using the button at the top of the screen (in Maple) or CTRL T. The following 4-minute video may be helpful for getting started: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=H6k7_CEc7QI You will not need to compute anything for this assignment. In this module you will be using Maple as a tool for expressing content and constructing tables. The mathematical symbols can be found in the palette commands on the left. Most of the symbols you need for this assignment can be found under ″Common Symbols″ in the middle and ″Operators″ near the bottom as you scroll down. Please note, → and Right arrow is not interchangeable. For the if-then statement, we need → which is generated in Maple by typing ″-˃″ in math mode. Maple automatically changes ″-˃″ to ″→″. To construct a table, you can choose Insert-˃Table from the top menu bar. Include a summary of main points or items you learned in this module at the end of your Maple document. Please follow these instructions properly and is only for someone who has access to maple software.
