A paper of Ricoeur’s arguments and the movie Oscar and Lucinda (A 1997 film). This is an axiomatic analysis.
If, as Ricoeur argues, our selves are constructed through the narrative web which we make and in which we find ourselves, we may have an ethical duty to others through the ways we act and conduct our lives (since we partially constitute the other as they partially constitute us.) Is Oscars reliance on games of chance therefore an abdication of moral responsibility towards others? Why or why not?
