Prompt
Our six texts so far (Hansson, Gordin, Bauer, Rice, Jewitt and Luu, and Kimmerer) focus on the value and challenges of demarcation and on how difficult it is to distinguish science and scientific evidence from its lookalikes. Choose 3 of our 6 course texts and write an essay that explains how each writer approaches the benefits and drawbacks of demarcation and differentiating science from other types of knowledge. As part of your essay, include one of the criteria for demarcation that each writer suggests, offer a concrete example from each text, and analyze each writer’s example in relationship to their overall argument.
