You have been appointed to act as a management consultant. This section of Assessment 1b prepares you for Assessment 2 in which you will be analysing one of the organisations listed below. To get you started on your major assignment, let’s start the research now. You need to choose one of the organisations: • Amazon • Virgin • Target • Lime Scooter The CEO is concerned that there are problems with the management processes in the organisation and you have been asked to research the issues further. Your tasks are as follows: 1. Research the company online and in the media to gain an understanding of the current context of the organisation and identify the management issues. 2. Link the management issues to one of the functions of management (FOM) from Topic 1. 3. Find two (2) online articles and two (2) current academic (peer-reviewed) journal articles relating to the management problem/issue you have identified. The online articles must be from official and/or reliable sources (information from social media, e.g. Facebook is not acceptable). The academic journal articles should relate to the problem/issue and NOT the organisation you are investigating. Your research should focus on relevant management publications. 4. Write two paragraphs on the summary of the case and what the problem(s) is/are in the organisation and how you can relate it/them to one of the FOM. In-text citations in APA referencing style are required in the paragraph. e.g. one paragraph should summarise the case and the second paragraph should identify the problem in the organisation and relate it to the FOM. Word count: 400 words in total. 5. At the end of this Assessment, you should provide a reference list which includes: • The peer-reviewed journal articles • Your textbook if you used it in your paragraph • The newspaper/web articles you used to complete the research on the organisations • Your reference list should be in the APA style
