Transferring previous knowledge to solve problems is something we do everyday without conscious thought. The transfer of previous learning to assist with current and future learning is something more complicated and is an important component of lifelong learning. As stated in the AAC&U Lifelong Learning Value rubric about transfer, “makes explicit references to previous learning and applies in an innovative (new and creative) way that knowledge and those skills to demonstrate comprehension and performance in novel situations.” In the UNESCO report (https://unesdoc.unesco.org/ark:/48223/pf0000242887) about level-setting of recognition of learning outcomes, it presents four pillars (originally from a 1996 report): learning to know, learning to do, learning to be, and learning to live together (2015, pp. 26-7). When considering these four pillars of learning, please answer any of the following: How can transfer of knowledge and learning assist with one of these pillars? How can transfer of knowledge and learning assist with building career skills in relation to one of these pillars? How can transfer of knowledge and learning assist with lifelong learning in relation to personal happiness in relation to one of these pillars?
